A recent color photo meeting the university's specified size and background requirements

Letters from professors or employers assessing your academic ability and character (usually 2)

A written statement outlining your academic background, study objectives, and career plans

Proof that you or your sponsor can cover tuition and living costs during your studies

Test score report proving your English or Chinese proficiency meets the program's requirement

An official document from your local police confirming you have no criminal record

A completed health examination form certified by a hospital, per Chinese government requirements

Official records of your courses and grades from previous study

A copy of your most recent degree or graduation certificate (or a pre-graduation certificate if still studying)

A scanned copy of your passport's photo page, valid for at least 6 months

Convenient access to campus and surrounding areas

SHNU transportation Xuhui Campus: Near Metro Line 12/15 (Guilin Park Station); many direct buses. Fengxian Campus: Further from downtown, local buses available. Free/paid school shuttle buses run regularly between the two campuses. Shared bikes, taxis and online car-hailing work on both sites
Customized bus SHNU can arrange customized paid charter buses from Hongqiao / Pudong Airport directly to Xuhui or Fengxian campus (book ahead with the international office). Metro, city buses, airport lines, ride-hailing taxis and regular inter-campus shuttles are also available.

Xuhui campus nearby areas Guilin Park, a classic Jiangnan garden with ancient pavilions and osmanthus blossoms; Longhua Temple, Shanghai’s oldest Buddhist temple; Xujiahui Cathedral, a stunning Gothic church; the campus itself has a vintage 1930s theatre and a small museum with cultural relics. Quick metro access to downtown landmarks, shopping streets and art museums.
Fengxian campus nearby areas Bihai Jinsha (Sunny Beach) for swimming, kayaking and sunset views; Fisherman’s Wharf, where you can dig for crabs on tidal flats and watch wind turbines; Haiwan National Forest Park for horse riding, boating and forest walks; Shanghai Fish (Jinhai Lake) and Fengxian Museum with modern exhibitions.
